Our Recipes section simplifies saving, organizing, and referencing your favorite recipes. In Sortifyd, you can not only manually add and organize your cherished recipes, complete with photos and detailed notes, but you can also explore delectable dishes from some of the most popular sources on the web. Search by dish, cuisine, ingredient, or diet preference, and save them for quick access, detailed with source links, ingredients, prep times, and nutrition details. Plus, when you're preparing for a family dinner or a special occasion, you can easily export the ingredient list to a shopping checklist.
The recipe management feature is fully integrated with the Sortifyd Meal Planner, making your meal prep and planning a breeze. Check out our support article on Meal planning in Sortifyd to learn more about how it all comes together.
Note: The Recipes section and the Meal planning features are currently available only on iOS. They are under development for Android and will be available soon.
Here's how you can get started with adding recipes in Sortifyd:

Navigate to the Recipes section which is part of the "Food & Interests" box in Sortifyd.
- Tap Add Recipe
- Recipes can be added in one of two ways:
- Search and import: This option lets you explore recipes from popular websites and then save them to your recipe collection for easy reference. With this option, you can search for recipes by dish, cuisine, ingredient, or diet preference.
- Manually: This option lets you add your own recipes complete with photos and other details.
For a recipe record you have the following sections and fields, most of which are auto-populated when you import a recipe. (Note: While the header fields are mandatory to be able to save a recipe record, all other fields are optional. They are included for your convenience and you can choose the level of detail you wish to add.)
- Recipe name - A descriptive title for your own reference and lookup.
- Category - This field has a pre-populated list of common recipe categories from which you can quickly choose one.

- Ingredients - You have the option to either import and add ingredients from a template or import items from a clipboard using the quick-type/paste items.
- Adding items from a template: A number of grocery-related list templates are available in the Food & Interest categories.
- Select a list template that would best contain the items you are looking for.
- Select items from the template that you would like to add to your list, or tap Select all to add all.
- Tap Import on the top right once you have selected all of the items you wish to add. You can repeat steps 1–3 to add additional items (from other templates) to your list.
- Tap the icon on the navigation bar to add the items to the Ingredients section of your recipe.
- Adding items using quick-type/paste:
- Type a list, one item per line. Tap Return on the keypad to continue to add items without dismissing the keypad, or at the top of the keypad to dismiss the keypad and . Hint: You can also copy a list of ingredients from a different application on your device (ex. web browser, your text messages, email, notepad app) and paste it onto this screen to be able to import it into your ingredients section. Just make sure you add line breaks between items so there is only one list item per line.
- Tap the icon on the navigation bar to add the items to the Ingredients section of your recipe.
- Adding items from a template: A number of grocery-related list templates are available in the Food & Interest categories.
- Directions - As you will note, when you import a recipe, we omit the directions to acknowledge original creators and respect copyrights. Please see the source website for steps and feel free to manually add them.
- Time & Servings
- Prep time - In hours and minutes
- Cook time - In hours and minutes
- Total time - Prep time + Cook time, in hours and mins
- Servings
- Nutrition
- Notes - A place for ad hoc notes/comments and other tags related to the meal to make it easily searchable.
- Attachments - Tap the icon to attach PDF documents or photos of items related to the recipe (recipe cards, inspiration from magazines, etc.) You can add attachments in one of the following ways:
- Attach pictures from your photo gallery
- Take and attach photos using your camera
- Attach PDFs and photos directly from your Files app/folder
- Scan and attach multi-page documents with the integrated document scanner. (This feature is available only in certain subscription plans.)
Once Saved, a meal plan can be edited by tapping the icon, or deleted by tapping the icon, both found on the top-right of the meal plan detail screen.
You can export the ingredient list of any recipe to a shopping checklist very easily. To do this, simply tap the icon at the top-right of the Ingredients section. This will create a new shopping list for that recipe under the Food & Interests category which you can then access under the Lists tab.
As your recipe collection grows, you can sort recipes automatically based on several criteria such as last modified time, creation time, category, total time, or title. To choose a sorting option, tap the sort icon located at the top right of the Recipes screen. This automatic sorting will organize your recipes based on the selected criterion, providing a more streamlined view.
Some tips:
- Add descriptive keywords in the Notes and Attachment name fields to make the record easily searchable.
- View hint notes for quick reference and suggested use cases.
