In Sortifyd, a number of default notifications and reminders are automatically created for you when you add records with certain date fields populated (ex. document expiry dates, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). With these default notifications, you get a reminder notification (alarm) and an alert also appears on the Notifications screen a certain number of (preset) days or months ahead of the event. These alerts stay on the Notification screen until deleted. See below for an example of some of the types of notifications available.
The following screen is an example of a health insurance record where a policy expiration date has been added (Dec 31, 2023). In this case, the user(s) on the account will get a reminder notification (alarm) and an alert will also appear on the Notifications screen one month before the policy expiry date.
Listed below are all the record types (with trigger fields and notification dates) for which default reminders are automatically created for you.
Home & Money

- Credit/Debit cards: Expiry date (3 months before expiry date)
- Property
- Primary home (owned): Purchase date (every year, on anniversary of)
- Property (rented for own use): Lease end date (6 months before end date)
- Vacation home Property name: Purchase date (every year, on anniversary of)
- Investment/Rental property: Lease end date (6 months before end date)
- Investment/Rental property: Purchase date (every year, on anniversary of)
- Auto
- Vehicles: Registration expiration (3 months before expiry date)
- Vehicles: Lease end date (6 months before end date)
- Insurance
- Homeowners/Renters insurance: Policy expiration date (1 month before expiry date)
- Auto insurance: Policy expiration date (1 month before expiry date)
- Life insurance: Policy expiration date (3 months before expiry date)
- Health insurance: Policy expiration date (1 month before expiry date)
- Umbrella insurance: Policy expiration date (1 month before expiry date)
Travel
- Travel documents
- Passport: Expiration date (9 months before expiry date)
- Visa: Expiration date (6 months before expiry date)
- Other travel document: Expiration date (9 months before expiry date)
- Travel dates and plans: Start date (3 months before start date)
Contacts
- Shared contacts: Birthday (every year, 1 day before)
- Shared contacts: Anniversary (every year, 1 day before)
Education & Work
- Education: Graduation (every year, on anniversary of)
- Work: Start date (every year, on anniversary of)
Personal
- Drivers license: Expiration date (3 months before expiry date)
- Birth certificate: Birthday (every year, 1 day before)
- Marriage certificate: Anniversary (every year, 1 day before)
- Other government-issued ID: Expiration date (3 months before expiry date)
Wellness
- Personal health record
- Eyeglass prescriptions: Date prescribed (11 months after last prescribed)
- Vital numbers: Measurement date (11 months after last measured)
Once a notification appears on the Notifications screen, here are the actions you can perform:
- Delete a notification by swiping left on the notification and tapping the
icon.
- Print or share/forward a notification with those in/or outside your shared account by swiping left on the notification and tapping the
icon. You can then print that notification by selecting your printer in the menu that appears, or you can share it through any communication app you use (ex. Mail, Messages, Whatsapp, etc.). Please exercise caution when sharing your private notifications with others outside your shared account.
- Mark the notification as read or unread by swiping left on the notification and tapping the flag icon.
Note:
Any notification and reminders that you may need to set beyond these predefined types, can be set by creating calendar events with reminders, or by creating one or more "List of reminders" where you can add reminders to each list item (ex.
